Benefits for Education and Participation ("Bildungspaket")

Recipients of unemployment benefits II, social allowance benefits ("Sozialgeld"), children's allowance, or housing benefits are also eligible for the benefits for education and participation. Supported services include day trips and class excursions of several days duration carried out by school or daycare centre, an annual grant of € 100 for school supplies, grants for students' travel costs, for adequate learning support, for midday meals in schools or day care/nursery centre as well as for benefits for the participation in social and cultural community life.

Recipients of unemployment benefit II or social allowance benefits apply at their local job center. Recipients of social welfare benefits apply at their local social welfare office. Anyone receiving housing benefits or children's allowance applies at their local housing benefit authority or the Family Benefit office.
