The dormitory consists of three multi-storey buildings arranged around a common inner area with green spaces, seating-accommodations, barbecue area and sports facilities (street ball, pétanque, table tennis, chess). The completely modernised dormitory furthermore has a two-storey common house where the popular students pub as well as the musical rooms and the workrooms are situated. A cheap best performance internet-access can be rented in almost every room. The dormitory is by far the largest dormitory in Hanover and accordingly offers a great cultural variety, as its residents are coming from almost every country in the world. The green area Leinemasch is directly adjoining the dormitory and invites you to making long walks and excursions. The University can be reached smoothly within a few minutes by tram. The ten minutes’ that it takes to got to the University by bike, leads through the most beautiful public park, the Herrenhäuser Gärten.
There are mainly single rooms in shared apartments / hall communities with shared sanitary rooms/kitchens, but there are some apartments available as well. The prices differ in regard to the size of the rooms. All rooms are completely furnished.

Self-Administration of the Dormitory (HSV)
The self-administration of the dormitory is elected from and by the group of the student residents. At the dormitory Dorotheenstraße, the HSV is particularly active. It keeps contact with the Student Administration, organises dormitory assemblies and parties, manages the students pub "Silo-Pinte" and sometimes arbitrates in case of dispute. The HSV is working complimentary. Suggestions and cooperation are always appreciated!
To find out the name of the HSV-members, consulting times and places of assembly please refer to announcements in the dormitory or ask the dormitory management. It can also be found on the Wohnheim-Homepage, which is operated by the residents.
Tutoring Programme in Dormitories
Within the framework of the Tutoring Programme for foreign students the student assistants offer consulting times. Some assistants attend to more than one dormitory – please pay attention to where the consulting times take place!
"Hello! I’m Abtin, one of the two tutors for foreign students in this Hanover’s largest students dorm. I study architecture at the University of Hannover, and live since 2008 in this residence. I speak german, English, some Italian, and of course my mother tongue Persian.
It would be my pleasure to help you with your new life in the residence or in Hanover, or if you need accompany to the authorities, informations and tipps regarding your student or social life in Germany, don’t hesitate to contact me through email or come during my consultation hours to the Tutors’ room, which is located in the community centre of the residence (Gemeinschaftshaus). I also organise regularly some cultural events and day’s excursions in or outside of Hanover. Keep a check on the notice-board in your building!"

"Hello, my name is Changzheng Wu. I am coming from China and studying mechanical engineering. Since November 2009 I am tutor of the Student Administration Hanover. I am speaking Chinese, German and English.
I offer international cooking nights as well as visits to the cinema and concerts regularly. Naturally I also look after the daily problems of foreign students. If you should have any questions, I will be there for you – just check my announcements!"

Shopping
The Herrenhäuser Markt is just vis-á-vis. Here you will find supermarkets, fruit shops, groceries, a draper’s discounter and bakeries. Furthermore there is a weekly market every Saturday.
Culture Round the Corner
Situated in the common house of the dormitory there is the so called "Silo-Pinte", a student pub which is run by the self-administration of the dormitory. Alongside the Stöckener Straße there are several pubs and cafés as well as the Stadtteilbibliothek (= Municipal Library) Herrenhausen. You cannot only borrow books there but also attend to literary events, which take place regularly. The Herrenhäuser Gärten, one of Hanover’s greatest attractions, entices you with its nature, culture and a multitude of events. For further information please refer to hannover.de.
Sports
The location of the dormitory offers ideal opportunities for going running or hiking. In summer, the public pools Leinhäuser Bad (Elbestraße 39) and the Volksbad Limmer (Stockhardtweg 6) are inviting for a swim. Directly at the dormitory there are also several sports facilities (street ball, pétanque, table tennis, chess).
