The Zentrum für Hochschulsport der Leibniz Universität Hannover (ZfH = centre for university sports Hanover) offers in cooperation with the sports departments of the student unions an extensive sports programme to all students and members of the universities of Hanover. It includes more than 300 events in more than 80 kinds of sport.

The courses are primarily not about achieving top performances. They are rather about everybody having the chance to do sports with friends and acquaintances and to make new contacts.

Besides groups in the field of "classical" sport, the programme includes theatre workshops, play courses, free dance and much more.

Normally, a registration is not necessary; most of the courses are free for students. Courses you have to register and pay for, are specially labelled within the sport programme.

Another point of focus are sport travel: many vacations concerning kinds of sports like canoeing, sailing, MTB, skiing etc. are offered in- and outside of Germany.

The University Sports Festival, which takes place at a different university every year, is very popular, too. There are mass sport tournaments, innovative join-in-activities and performances as well as the cheerful open air party at the end. In winter, the Evening of University Sports takes place, which includes a show dealing with university sports.

For foreign student groups or groups at the faculties there is the possibility to apply for fixed dates at the ZfH, where they can use the premises as a closed circle. You can get information about the application procedure and vacancies at the office of the ZfH.
