Living Costs
The average living costs of a student in Hanover amount to 783 € (all following numbers are calculated as an average per month and refer to the students of Hanover).
With 282 €, the lease costs strain the student budget the most. The inhabitants of the dormitories of the Student Administration of Hanover pay much less: the average here is at 176 €. Students living in a flat all by themselves naturally have the highest rents: 311 €. A shared flat costs students 234 €.
75 % of the students are supported by their parents with a sum of 443 €. Two thirds raise a part of their living costs by doing a job. One sixth uses savings for the expenses.
About 25 % of the students receive a student loan (BAföG) with an average of 397 €.
