Foundation "Mother and Child - Protection of Unborn Life"

The Federal Foundation "Mother and Child – Protection of Unborn Life" supports pregnant women in need by one-off aids, that are not assumed in the context of other social benefits. There is no legal claim for support.

Precondition for such aid is that counselling and application will take place at an office for advice on pregnancy and that there is financial hardship.

Potential financial support comply with the individual situation of need, it is conceivable to grant basic load for the baby, baby’s changing unit, bedclothes for children, costs for flat-hunting and equipping the flat or its renovation or pram.

Pregnant women who want to call on this aid must visit an office for advice on pregnancy and make an application.

Foundation "Family in Need"

Besides the federal foundation there is also a state foundation in Lower Saxony called "Family in Need". There is no legal claim for support from this foundation, too.

Primarily this foundation supports:

• Single pregnant women;
• Single mothers and fathers;
• Families with at least three children, who have their main residence or usual place of residence in Lower Saxony.

The foundation grants both interest-free loans and benefits.

Conditions for a claim are application and counselling at a social advice office and establishing prima facie evidence of a severe financial hardship, that was caused without actual fault, like e.g. unemployment, pregnancy and birth of a child, illness, divorce or bereavement.

If the requirements for support by the Federal Foundation »Family in Need«are fulfilled at the time of application, that foundation will be primarily be made use of. It is not possible to receive support for the same need by both foundations simultaneously.
