Students can be given leave from their studies on the basis of pregnancy and / or child care and -rearing. However, the payment of the student loan (BAföG) will be suspended within this time. An exeat is permitted only for full study terms and as a rule for just two successive semesters per course of studies. In order to be exeated for more than four semesters within one course of studies, important reasons must be proven. Among these important reasons are pregnancy and the care of small children.

Application

The exeat must be applied for at the enrolment office / student secretariat. For this application you need a copy of the maternity log in account of expected date of delivery or, if necessary, the birth certificate. The application must be handed in during the re-registration period or up to four weeks after the start of the term at the latest. You can download the necessary forms at the internet homepage. If it should be necessary to postpone or repeat examinations, the examination office in charge must be informed.
