Further Offers by Universities and the Student Administration
The universities of Hanover and the Student Administration Hanover offer additional supplies for student parents and their children, that are beyond the scope of regular day-care and help to make everyday life easier for student parents at the universities.
In the following you will find some examples. The Gender Mainstreaming Offices of the universities offer further information.
Leibniz University of Hanover (LUH)
Königskinder
The Leibniz University of Hanover offers an around the clock-emergency care for the children of its students and employees throughout the year. The costs will be absorbed by the LUH if parents are in need of this emergency care due to study or work reasons, respectively. You will get further information at the Gleichstellungsbüro (Gender Mainstreaming Office) of the Leibniz University of Hanover.
Nursing- and Baby-Care Room at the TIB/UB
On the second floor of the main building of the Technical Information Library/University Library at the Welfengarten there is a nursing room, which is equipped with a cot, a baby’s changing table, a basin as well as with toys and reading. The key for this room is deposited at the central information on the ground floor where there is yet another baby-care room, however without sitting/nursing accommodation.
Medical School of Hanover (MHH)
Care Offers
The Gender Mainstreaming Office of the MHH offers day-care during times of exam and state examination. In case of urgent need students can make use of an emergency care in consultation with the university. Furthermore, the MHH supports parents by looking for child minders, places babysitters and provides an internet exchange for families. In addition to that, the Gender Mainstreaming Office is willing to run an advertisement at the nanny exchange of the MHH and to bring on notices. University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover (HMTMH)
Spatzennest
The "Spatzennest" is especially designed for students as well as employees of the university with little children. The room is equipped with a baby’s changing table, a comfortable couch, a children’s sitting area as well as with toys and a large blackboard for drawing. The acquisition of the equipment was financed by the Student Administration Hanover and the university. Parents can make use of this room to look after their children themselves or make an arrangement with other users and organise a reciprocal child care. The access to the Spatzennest is possible via a warrant, which can be attained by interested parents at the equal opportunities officer. You can only get the key from the porter by producing the warrant. Furthermore, there are special house rules for this care room. It is designed to prevent that the room from being alienated. Parents receive the house rules together with the warrant.

University of Applied Sciences (FHH)
Mini-Club
Students of the FHH may place their children short-term and unannounced at the "Mini-Club" of the Kaiser Centre, which is situated just opposite the main building of the FHH, Ricklinger Stadtweg. This offer has been initiated by the Gender Mainstreaming Office of the FHH and is financed by the Student Administration Hanover and the FHH. Holiday Child Care
During the Easter and autumn holidays the LUH, FHH, MHH, TiHo und HMTMH jointly offer a holiday child care for the children of university members. The care takes place at the MHH, at the Faculty V of the FHH and at the Institute for Sport. You will find further information about offerings, dates and application at the gender mainstreaming offices of the involved universities or at the office of the Centre for University Sports Hanover, Phone 762 - 21 92, info(at)hochschulsport-hannover.de.
Student Administration Hanover (Studentenwerk Hannover)
Kid’s Corner/Baby Corner at the Main Refectory
At the main refectory there is a kid’s and baby corner for small children. Student parents may eat without any ruffle while keeping an eye on their playing children.
