Hufelandstraße

The dormitory Hufelandstraße is located in a rather quiet residential area in direct vicinity of the student quarter Linden. A good infrastructure and cultural diversity as well as an attractive range of leisure activities determine this dormitory. As the apartments are very much sought after there are longer waiting periods.
The house is renovated in two phases. All apartments are furnished new and get new bathrooms. The first phase in the back house will be finished in March 2012. The second phase of construction in the front house will last from April until September 2012. During this time the 80 apartments are not available. After the renovation, rental prices will be changing (see below).
There are 164 single apartments with a small kitchenette and a sanitary room of one’s own and one 3-room-apartment. The apartments are completely furnished.

The Dormitory Management is your contact for all formalities, questions and problems in regard to living in the dormitory. Please note: If you want to apply for a place in a Dormitory, please contact our Department for Student Residential Affairs (Jägerstraße 3–5), not the local Dormitory Management!

Self-Administration of the Dormitory (HSV)
The self-administration of the dormitory is elected from and by the group of the student residents. It keeps contact with the Student Administration, organises dormitory assemblies and parties, manages the students pub at the dormitory and sometimes arbitrates in case of dispute. The HSV is working complimentary. Suggestions and cooperation are always appreciated!
To find out the name of the HSV-members, consulting times and places of assembly please refer to announcements in the dormitory or ask the dormitory management.
Tutoring Programme in Dormitories
Within the framework of the Tutoring Programme for foreign students the student assistants offer consulting times. Some assistants attend to more than one dormitory – please pay attention to where the consulting times take place!
"Hello, my name is Alireza Sadeghinejad and I'm from Iran. I study Civil Engineering at the Leibniz University Hanover. Since 2009 I am living at the dormitory Hufelandstraße and since October 2010 I support you as a tutor of the Student Administration Hanover. I speak German, English and my native language Persian, of course.
It would be my pleasure to help you with your new life in the dormitory. If you need accompany to the authorities, informations and tipps regarding your student or social life in Germany, don’t hesitate to come during my consultation hours or contact me through email. On a regular basis I offer cultural events, visits to cinemas, cooking nights and excursions in or outside of Hanover. Naturally I also look after the daily problems of foreign students. If you should have any questions, I will be there for you – just check my announcements!"

Shopping
At the Zimmermannstraße, which is 4 minutes away, there is a big supermarket as well as other shopping possibilities. The nearby Limmerstraße is well-supplied with several supermarkets, bakeries, groceries, fruit and vegetable shops, book stores, second-hand shops, boutiques etc.
Culture Round the Corner
The cultural range is multifaceted: 4 minutes away from the dormitory there is a pub called »Frosch«. At the Limmerstraße and the adjoining streets you are spoilt for choice: pubs and cafés are just closely packed. Here you can also find the small and very popular cinema Apollo-Kino and close-by the dormitory there is the club Béi Chéz Heinz. In the cellar of the "Fössebad" there are parties with live music and concerts, in the summer even open air. Another nearby club is the "Freizeitheim Linden". Sports
The location of the dormitory offers ideal opportunities to go running alongside the nearby banks of the "Leine" and a canal. The "Fössebad" (indoor swimming pool and lido) is just round the corner. You can play volley ball, billiard and darts directly at the dormitory.
Medical Practitioners
At the Limmerstraße there are several medical practices. With the Hannover Map or the Google Map below you can find doctors near to the dormitory.
